The Event

Welcome to the premiere Junior Fencing event in the United States.

It is a distinct honor that Charlotte has been chosen as the host city for the 2008 Junior Olympic Championships. Since its inception in 1972, Junior Olympics has grown into a prestigious tournament and a proving ground for current and future Olympians. Over the four day event, over 1800 athletes will travel from all 50 states with the hope of competing for the gold medal in one of the 12 events

The sport of fencing is thriving in the Queen City. Charlotte is home to a diverse and growing population of fencers who regularly represent North Carolina at tournaments across the nation. In addition, fencing is an NCAA sport and Junior Olympics provides a critical opportunity for current as well as aspiring collegiate athletes to gain experience and recognition.

Fencing is known as the sport of honor, courage, and the pursuit of excellence. The Charlotte Local Organizing Committee would like to provide you this opportunity to support the 2008 Junior Olympics !
